Garbage disposal not working?
Disposals stop working when something gets stuck inside. Hard food, grease, bones and small things like spoons and bottle caps cause jams and damage. A jammed disposal hums, stops turning, or will not turn on at all, and if it sits that way it leads to smells and a backed-up sink.
- Hums but will not spin
- Will not turn on at all
- Leaks under the sink
- Grinds loudly or smells bad
- Sink drains slowly or backs up
Repair or replace the disposal.
Small problems like a jam or a loose part can usually be repaired. Older or damaged units are often better replaced. We look at your disposal, explain the problem in plain terms, and give you the choice.
The rest of the kitchen.
We handle all of the kitchen plumbing: sinks, faucets, drains and the supply lines behind them. Whether it is a quick fix or a full upgrade during a remodel, the goal is a kitchen that works and stays that way.
What it costs: our minimum service charge is $175 per hour plus materials. The price is explained before any work starts.
They were here in time & did a wonderful job. I love the new kitchen sink & 2 new bathroom faucets.
What not to put down a disposal.
- Grease and oil
- Bones and fruit pits
- Coffee grounds and eggshells in quantity
- Stringy or starchy food like celery, onion skins, potato peels and pasta
- Anything that is not food
Running cold water while it grinds, and for a few seconds after, keeps food moving down the line.
Before you call.
Tell the office what the disposal is doing (humming, silent, leaking, slow), whether the sink is backed up, and if anything went down it recently. Do not put your hand in a disposal.
