Tank water heaters, gas and electric.

A traditional tank water heater usually tells you something is wrong before it quits. The hot water runs out faster than it used to. The water comes out rusty. The tank pops or rumbles. Or there is a puddle at the base that was not there last week.

We repair gas and electric tank water heaters safely, and we check the parts around the heater that cause a lot of these problems. If the tank itself is failing, we say so, and we replace it with one sized for your house.

  • No hot water, or hot water that runs out too fast
  • Leaks at the base, the fittings or the relief valve
  • Rusty or discolored hot water
  • Popping, rumbling or other new noises
  • Pilot, burner and element problems

Tankless water heaters.

Tankless heaters make hot water on demand, but they still need someone who knows them when something goes wrong. If yours is not heating, shuts off in the middle of a shower, shows an error code, or swings between hot and cold, we can find out why.

We repair and replace tankless units, and we install new ones. Many tankless systems we work on sit right next to water treatment and filtration, which protects the heater from buildup. We plumb both.

Repair or replace, explained plainly.

A water heater is one of the bigger plumbing purchases in a house, so we do not rush it. We look at the age of the unit, what failed and what a repair would cost, and we tell you what we would do in your place. Then you decide.

What it costs: our minimum service charge is $175 per hour plus materials. The price for a repair or a new unit is explained before any work starts.

Backed by a warranty.

Materials we supply and all of our workmanship carry a 1-year warranty. Some parts also carry a manufacturer's warranty, and we help with that side when it applies.

Needed a water heater. Tammy was awesome on the phone. Courteous and kind. Tyler was prompt, efficient, respectful. The workmanship was quality and I can recommend them to anyone. Thanks Excel!

Tank or tankless?

Both work. The right one depends on the house and how you use hot water.

  • TankStores heated water and is ready the moment you open a tap. Simple, familiar, and usually the lower upfront cost.
  • TanklessHeats water as it flows, so it does not run out during back-to-back showers and takes up far less space. It needs enough gas or electrical capacity at the house, and regular maintenance to keep scale out.

If you are replacing a heater anyway, we explain the trade-offs plainly and you decide. We do not push one over the other.

Signs a water heater is near the end.

  • Water pooling at the base of the tank
  • Rusty water from the hot side only
  • Popping or rumbling as it heats
  • Hot water that runs out sooner every month
  • A tankless unit that keeps throwing the same code

Some of these are repairs, some are not. A leaking tank usually means replacement. A bad element, thermostat or valve usually does not. We tell you which one you have.

Before you call.

Tell the office whether the heater is tank or tankless, gas or electric, roughly how old it is, and what it is doing (no hot water, leaking, noise, an error code). The brand and the label on the side help us bring the right parts.
