What is in your water?
Clear water can still carry things you would rather not drink: sediment, minerals, chemicals, and the tastes and smells that come with them. Hard water also leaves scale in pipes, fixtures and water heaters, which shortens their life.
The right treatment depends on the water coming into your house. A drinking-water system under the kitchen sink solves one problem. A softener or whole-home filter solves another. We help you pick the one that fits.
Reverse osmosis systems.
A reverse osmosis (RO) system removes unwanted particles from your drinking water, so it tastes and smells cleaner. We install new RO systems, repair existing ones and replace worn-out units.
- New RO system installation
- Low water flow from the RO faucet
- Strange taste after a filter change
- Leaks at the unit or the lines
- Old filters and systems past their life
Softeners and whole-home treatment.
For water problems that reach every tap, we install whole-home treatment: softeners, filter housings and the valves and bypasses that make them easy to service. We run the plumbing clean and label it, so the next filter change is simple.
What it costs: our minimum service charge is $175 per hour plus materials. Equipment and labor are explained before any work starts.

We called them about a water softener filtration system, they were on time, professional, friendly and explained everything. We highly recommend them for any plumbing problems!
Which system fits which problem.
Water treatment is not one product. Each system solves a different problem, and many homes need more than one.
- Reverse osmosis (RO)A small system under the kitchen sink that filters drinking and cooking water through a membrane. Best for taste, smell and dissolved contaminants at one tap.
- Water softenerTreats the whole house for hardness, the minerals that leave white scale on fixtures, glass doors and the inside of a water heater.
- Whole-home filtrationFilter housings where the water enters the house, for sediment, chlorine taste and other problems you want handled at every tap.
We start with what you are seeing and what is in the water, then recommend the smallest setup that fixes it. Nothing high pressure, and nothing you do not need.
Keeping a system working.
Every treatment system needs a little upkeep: filters and membranes get changed on a schedule, and softeners need salt. When a system that used to work starts producing low flow, a strange taste or leaks, it is usually overdue maintenance or a worn part, not a dead system. We service the systems we install and the ones someone else put in.
Before you call.
Tell the office what you are noticing (taste, smell, spots on fixtures, scale in the kettle), and whether there is already a softener or filter in the house. A photo of the equipment helps.

Do you install water filtration or treatment systems?
Yes. We install and service reverse osmosis systems, water softeners and whole-home treatment and filtration.
Can you repair an RO system someone else installed?
Yes. We repair existing RO systems with low flow, leaks, bad taste or old filters, and replace them when repair is not worth it.
Can you fix hard water?
Yes. A water softener or whole-home treatment system handles hardness at every tap. We explain which one fits your house and what it costs.
Is the work guaranteed?
Materials we supply and all of our workmanship carry a 1-year warranty.
Do I need a softener or a reverse osmosis system?
They solve different problems. A softener treats hardness for the whole house. An RO system filters drinking water at one tap. Many homes have both. We look at your water and explain which one fits.
How often do filters need changing?
It depends on the system and your water. We tell you the schedule for the system we install and show you how to check it.
Which towns do you serve?
Ellensburg, Cle Elum, Selah, Roslyn, Easton, Vantage and Mattawa, plus the rest of Kittitas County. Call and ask if you are not sure.

No. Excel Plumbing is a residential plumber: homes, rentals and second homes.
